How to care and work or study

How to care and work or study

Many carers find it difficult to juggle caring with employment or studying. Maybe you’ve had to give up work to care? Or you want to get some qualifications under your belt, but you don’t know how to combine studying with your caring responsibilities?  Whatever your situation, you’re probably finding it difficult to enter, or re-enter, the world of education and work.

The GEM project

The project provides you with one-to-one support with education, training or work, to help you move towards your goals.

We’ll talk to you about your life and develop an action plan that's shaped around your needs. For example, we can help with transport or childcare costs, or provide additional support if you’re disabled or have mental health issues.

As you progress through the programme, we’ll help you develop your confidence and self-esteem, attend relevant training courses, build you CV and gain vital interview skills. Our unique, tailored support takes into account your caring responsibilities and is delivered at a pace that suits you.

Who can join the project?

Who can join the project?

Any carer who is unemployed and not taking part in any other employment or training programme is welcome to join the project. If you are in paid work of any kind, you will not be eligible.

You will have the right to live and work in the UK.

This is a local project so you must live, or be able to access, services in Gloucestershire.
