" No decisions about us without us "

As someone with a disability, sensory impairment, mental health issue, or as a carer or older person in Gloucestershire, you may be dismayed at the number of health and social care decisions being made today which you know will impact on your life, but about which you have no say.

Gloucestershire Choice Network (GCN) is a consortium of user-led organisations committed to user led service development and the involvement of the people who use/seek their services at every level of their organisations and in the
development and delivery of services. GCN currently includes Carers Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire Older Persons Association, Gloucestershire Deaf Association and Gloucestershire Lifestyles.

How Unified Voices can help you…

...as an individual or someone who uses services

Would you like to share your experiences with us to help make real changes to the services you use in Gloucestershire?

Can you see the benefit of individual voices coming together to make a more powerful voice?

Are you serious about wanting to improve the services you and others use to meet your needs?

...as an organisation or service provider

Clients do not just use services they live them – make sure you are getting it right.

Would you like to involve your service users and provide services they actually want?

Do you want to improve the way you engage with people who use your services?

...as a statutory authority or commissioner

Do you want to move beyond paying lip-services and tick-boxing towards more positive implementation of the Equalities Act?

Do you want to talk to real people with opinions?

Do you want to involve people who use services more effectively in your commissioning processes as recommended ‘best practice’?

We will be doing this in various ways:

Unified Forum – Through the Carers Forum and other consortium member’s forums we will be asking you to share your experiences on mutual issues to help make real changes to the services you use in Gloucestershire.

Email Group - Would you like to become a member of a representative email group we consult with as and when the need arises?  The surveys will be easy to use and kept to a limit of no more than 15 questions. Our next survey will be on ‘personalisation’ and how it affects you. To join we just need your email address. Also tell us about your issues so we can produce user-led surveys to push for change.

Participation - We will be talking about participation, what it means, how you do it and how you can help it happen.  If you want to know more please contact us.

Awards Scheme – Using the local media we would like to share your good and bad stories of using services.  Perhaps you would like to commend for an award certificate a fantastic doctor or hairdresser for the time and consideration they take over your needs. Please contact us with your stories.

If you would like more information, join the email group or share you issues and stories please telephone Sarah or Iain on (01452) 389342, or email, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
