Can I get money off my Council Tax? |
|
There are three ways to reduce your Council Tax.
-
If your house has been adapted to meet the needs of a disabled person then you may qualify for the Disability Reduction Scheme and have your Council Tax reduced to the level of the next Band down.
-
If you are on a low income you can apply for the means tested Council Tax Benefit.
-
Certain adults can be "disregarded" for Council Tax purposes which might leave your house being assessed as a single occupancy or even as empty, with a 25% or 50% discount because of this. Included in the disregarded people are certain carers, and people with severe mental impairment.
For more details of all of these contact the Advice and Advocacy team at Carers Gloucestershire on 01452 386283.
