A drop-in public consultation drew around 50 people to the Subscription Rooms to discuss possible changes to the management of NHS Gloucestershire's community health services. The proposals will see NHS Gloucestershire commission services provided by other organisations.
Opponents of the idea have, however, protested that the plan amounts to privatisation of health services.
But NHS Gloucestershire says what is important is that whoever runs community health services in future can meet people's needs, provide safe, high quality care and treatment and make the most of the money and resources available.
Director of nursing Jill Crook said: "We were really pleased with the turnout and to talk with local people about the options and for them to share their views with us."
