If you are caring for someone who due to age, physical or mental illness, addiction or disability, could not manage without your help, then you are entitled to a Carer's Assessment.
A Carer's Assessment is your opportunity to make Gloucestershire County Council aware of the impact your caring role has upon you in your daily life. It is a chance to look at your own needs as well as the needs of the person you are caring for. You may be offered a Carer's Assessment when the person you are caring for is being assessed, or in the case of children, your needs as a Carer will be included in the assessment of need of your child and family. You can still request a separate assessment in your own right, even if the person you are caring for is not being assessed.
A Carer's Assessment may lead to services being offered to you such as a sitting service, the Carers Emergency Card Scheme, or payments or grants made to you which you could spend on something to make your life easier. Carers Assessments can also include benefit advice and referrals to other support organisations such as Carers Gloucestershire or a Carers support group.
To request a Carer's Assessment call the Adult Helpdesk (01452 426868) or the Children and Families Helpdesk (01452 426565). |
