Mission & Values PDF Print E-mail

Our overriding mission is to make a positive difference to the lives of Carers, as such we are about:

Enhancing the lives of Carers

Working in partnership with other organisations we aim to:

Identify Carers

  • Raise the public awareness of what the definition of a ‘Carer’ is to enable more Carers to identify themselves as such, making it easier for them access the support and services available to them.
  • Increase the knowledge and understanding of Carers and their issues within the health and social care agencies leading to an increased level of referrals.

Provide a range of services in response to their needs

  • Provide an increasing number and diversity of good quality, easily accessible, appropriate and responsive Carer focussed services to support the Carer both in their caring role and as a whole person in their own right. Promote and facilitate mutual help and support between Carers to complement service provision.
  • Be recognised as the preferred supplier/coordinator of support services for Carers by all the leading agencies in the County and the public at large with three year contracts in place for all of our core services.

Give Carers a Collective Voice

  • Lead an ongoing, challenging and proactive campaign for Carers locally, and influence the PRTC nationally, to ensure their issues are heard and taken notice of by the relevant authorities and service providers. Facilitate Carers having a voice in their own right.
  • Be acknowledged as a key player within The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, helping to set the agenda both regionally and nationally and held up as a model of good practice in the provision of support for Carers.

Ensure that Carers Gloucestershire remains a Sustainable Organisation

  • Diversify our funding base to help grow the organisation and to reduce the vulnerability of having one or more of the main funders withdrawing their support.
  • Be recognised as a model employer within the voluntary sector as evidenced by staff recruitment, retention and development.
