Gordon Brown holds Citizens Jury for Carers |

The Prime Minister met with Carers from across the country at a Citizens Jury on the future of social care policy, which was held in Leeds on 11 January.
He was joined by Secretary of State for Health Alan Johnson and Care Services minister Ivan Lewis at this event, which follows the government's recent nationwide consultation of Carers to inform the development of the new National Carers Strategy.

The report on the state of social care in England, reveals sharp disparities in how councils decide who is eligible for help and to what extent.

Carers discrimination case makes progress in European Court |

In a case which has implications for the employment rights for all carers, today the European Court of Justice ruled that a Carer could suffer discrimination 'by association'.
Sharon Coleman, who cares for her disabled son, took her discrimination claim to an employment tribunal after she felt forced into leaving her job as a legal secretary.
